Professional Development Blog Post #2: Finding Your Niche in Agricultural Communications
Yesterday in class, Dr. Miller asked, "So what do you want to do when you graduate?" and I was scared to death.
See... this question always makes my stomach turn, so I always give the answer of, "Oh, I'd like to be a communications director."
That answer is way too broad and ends up with me having to answer more questions.
When it comes down to it, you have to really analyze your skills, talents and what you are passionate about.
When Dr. Miller asked this question, many things went through my mind. Well, I'm pretty good at Adobe Photoshop and InDesign as well as Illustrator. I love to plan events and see them executed. I've developed my speaking and communication skills. And I guess you could say writing blogs has become a talent. I am very passionate about the animal science industry especially beef cattle.
So, Dr. Miller really opened my eyes by explaining all you could do in this industry and it makes me very excited about what the future has planned for me!
