Camera Features Assignment

Camera Features Assignment

So for this assignment, I am to learn about specific digital SLR camera functions beyond the automatic settings.

For most of my photography projects for class, I usually keep that dial turned to “A” for automatic. For those that are not familiar with cameras, automatic setting means the camera decides what it thinks you need to capture a good photo.

It is helpful, but I want to make the most out of my camera and use all the features.

1.   Recently, I purchased the Canon EOS Rebel T7. I also own the 18-55 mm and the 70-300 mm lenses.

I perused the owner’s manual to find some features I’d like to learn and focus on this semester.

I feel like the basic three you have to know are functions such as, ISO adjustment, F-Stop and Shutter Speed.

ISO
2.   ISO measures the sensitivities of the image sensor.

F-Stop/Aperture
3.   F-Stop is the “aperture” opening of a camera lens. This controls how much light comes in.

Shutter Speed
4.    Shutter Speed is the length of time when the film or digital sensor inside the camera is exposed to light, also when a camera's shutter is open when taking a photograph.

You can can change these functions on your camera the same way:

·     On the Function Setting Screen, select the desired function and press the SET button. The function’s setting screen should appear.
·     You then press the left arrow or right arrow keys or turn the dial to change some of the settings. Some functions can be changed by pressing the DISP button.
·     Press SET to finalize the setting and return to the Quick Control screen.

These functions might seem small things to juggle, but I want to be able to take quality photographs through these functions behind the lens and just enhance them through editing.
