Jessica Wesson Mini Senior Session

Jessica is one of the most driven and hard working girls I know. On the outside, she is fierce and knows what she wants. Once you get to know her heart, she's a true gem and has the sweetest soul.

One of my goals for this semester was to shoot a couple of mini senior sessions, so I am glad Jess asked me if I could take some photos of her!

For this photo, I shot it in automatic to see what the camera thought I should do. I then saw that the picture was pretty good, just a little dark, so I bumped up the ISO a bit. In editing, I just really wanted to make the green in the leaves pop and the red shirt pop as well. I took out the hair on her face and smoothed out a line on her shirt.

For this photo, I saw what Automatic settings had to offer and then stuck to my own mainly for the rest of the shoot in this location. I took a guide from Pinterest and read that for everyday photos and posed shots that the shutter speed should be about 1/125 and to blur the background the F stop should be low.

For this photo, I had Jessica walk towards me to capture some natural movement. I increased my shutter speed and in doing so, I had to increase my ISO.

In the automatic photo, my camera wanted to focus on the glass panels instead of Jessica so I decreased my F-stop, and then decreased my ISO because I wanted to capture some of that golden light hitting the tree.

In the automatic picture, it was way too dark. I just bumped up the ISO. I felt like the photo captured the water in time and focused on Jessica.

For this photo, I liked the automatic settings so I did not change them at all. Sometimes I forget that posing people can make or break a picture. I think that the automatic photo looks nice, but the manual one looks better because the bench is not covering Jessica up.

For this last photo, we wanted to create another walking photo. The automatic photo was way too dark so I increased the shutter speed, so I also increased the ISO.

Jessica's mini session taught me a lot. There was a lot of trial and error happening in this photoshoot, so I am very thankful for how patient Jess was with me.

I am slowly but surely starting to figure this stuff out!
