My M&M Cookie Recipe

For this week's photo journal, I wanted to share my M&M cookie recipe and photograph the process.

For these cookies you will need...
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups of all-purpose four
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 cup of shortening
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter unsalted
  • 1 package of baking M&Ms
Instructions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, shortening, white sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. This will take about 2 minutes.
  3. Beat in the vanilla and eggs.
  4. Mix the flour, baking soda and salt on low speed
  5. Turn off the mixer and stir in the M&Ms
  6. Form the dough into balls about three tablespoons and place 2 inches apart on lined cookie sheets
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are just set
  8. Once out of the oven, place a few extra M&Ms on top if you wish.

I snapped a couple of test photos on automatic settings with these eggs to see where to start.

I adjusted the shutter speed, because the eggs were moving slightly, and I wanted to be able to catch them. I edited the picture to be a bit brighter and vibrant.

It is super dark in my house, so I had to really increase the ISO, the flash did not help the picture at all.

For these next sets of photos, I went back to my settings for the first picture.

I edited both of the Final Edited Photos to look more vibrant and rich.
